I’m seeing, yet again, this surge of hatred for the Boomer generation. I’m a late season Boomer, born in 1961; I’ve worked for nearly 50 years, have been in the same profession for 37 years, I’ve routinely worked 45-60 hours a week. I don’t get why we are so vilified.

@CitiesSuck @ChrisMartin1961 Difficult to prevent. We, the voters, are helpless against the rich and corporations. For decades we have voted our reps into congress over and over, most of whom are on the take. Get rid of the hidden money and most would not run again.

I do have debt because at the time, the only other choice was starvation and homelessness. In my case, I was let loose into adulthood with zero guidance or information.

I've seen boomers make fun of their children to their faces when they come to their parents not even wanting money or support, just someone to talk and vent to. They get insults and mockery. Not all of them are like this but I've seen it.

I don't think that this means the unexceptional everyman deserves a lifetime of uncertainty, misery and debt slavery.

One of them now has the most beautiful house I've ever seen and a Ferrari in the garage. He's smart, hard working, and had a phenomenal support structure. I'm genuinely happy for him.

@DDS_MINN @CuckSwarm @ChrisMartin1961 I disagree that it's "no one's fault" but I'm no stranger to making colossal career shifts out of dying industries and starting over from square one. Multiple times, in fact. I always remind myself that with our "leadership" nothing is guaranteed.

This is what people do and have always done. Why do you think our ancestors came to the US? It’s no one’s fault. It’s the way of the world.

@DDS_MINN @CuckSwarm @ChrisMartin1961 I still love my parents but I see this as dereliction of duty. I had a passbook account but that was it. I didn't even know what a credit score was until I found out that mine was in the fucking toilet at roughly age 20.
