The Bible tells me to support the Children of Israel: “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” It says nothing about a Pope. The first Pope was Siricius (384–399 AD). So we went 320 years after Peter's death during the most formative time in the Christian church with NO Vicar of Christ (Christ's representative/deputy on earth)? If the Pope is so important, then how did the early Christian church survive 320 years without one? Sorry but for me, the Pope doesn't "stand in the place of Christ."
