The Chicago Teachers Union just suffered a historic defeat in the 2026 Illinois primary races last night.
Despite heavy spending, CTU-backed candidates lost in 7 of 13 competitive matchups. Meanwhile, candidates supporting the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit program saw massive victories across the state.
CTU is officially no longer a political tastemaker in Illinois.

Biss, Conyears-Ervin, and Delia Ramirez were all running for state-level committeeperson. Because IL has insane contribution limits, CTU was able to bypass FEC limits and contribute to their state-level PACs even though it's obvs for Congress.
