SportsAid welcomed the charity’s partners and guests to Girdlers’ Hall in London last week for a discussion about the evolving definition of success within high-performance sport!   Beyond The Podium, supported by the Girdlers' Company, explored the importance of self-fulfilment for athletes, understanding their identity beyond the quest for medals, caring for their mental health and how they develop the resilience to overcome setbacks. There was also an emphasis on crossover learnings from sport to business with an insight into the wellbeing support in place for athletes ahead of the highly-anticipated Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.   @Tom_Gayle led a fascinating conversation with Sir @MatthewCPinsent as he reflected on his rowing career and the period which followed his retirement before Emmanuel Oynibo-Coker, @ClareC09 and Shanice Beckford-Norton took to the stage to share experiences from their own sporting journeys. @AmaAgbeze MBE and Tim Lawler MBE rounded off the event by highlighting their key takeaways from the discussions. Such a difficult couple of days as we had to say goodbye to our Gorgeous George.Our dogs are our children&George was more ‘human’ than most dogs. He always thought he was a spaniel-I hope he will be racing around, jumping into rivers&licking the cows noses so they lick his head😢
