Everything has to be perfectly presented according to strict guidelines and you only get one shot at it. It's a perfectionist's nightmare and yet, I suppose, only a perfectionist would be really good at it. What an achievement when one finally hits send!

Last week someone sweetly asked me if I had ever considered writing a book. As I prepare to submit my sixth, I am struck once again by how the final "preparing your manuscript" stage is far more arduous than researching and writing the thing, certainly for non-fiction. 1/
