This has been my main piece of evidence for why Andy’s scheme is completely outdated and in dire need of revamping. KC has now lost both of their “easy buttons”(Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill) and they’ve been unable or unwilling to bring in guys to replace that role. I think this is in large part due to the fact that we have a senile head coach who still believes he is the premiere playcaller in the sport when in reality he was passed up a long time ago. He won’t deviate from his scheme. Offenses in 2025 either have: 1. An elite play caller who can get almost any guy open(McVay, Shanahan, Ben Johnson etc.) OR 2. An elite “easy button” player who doesn’t need the perfect play call to make himself a huge threat; whether that’s in the passing game or running game. KC has none of those things and it’s been obvious since 2023 when Kelce’s decline began. They’ve forced Mahomes to be the “easy button” for the last 3 years and it’s taken a toll on him and has put way too much on his plate. This has to change in 2026.

Incredible how everyone can have a functioning offense in structure with backup QBs but Andy Reid can’t…insane how much Mahomes has been covering up
