I 100% agree with you Coach. Here’s the tricky part. I graduated Valedictorian of my HS. My grades and test scores are good enough that I received Ivy League offers. Most high academic players like myself are forced to take dual credit during HS. So I graduated with 24 college credits already. That really limits me in the Juco classroom. Here’s where the portal really hurts… for academic players, our money is out of HS… no one cares about a 34 on the ACT or Valedictorian after I’ve been at a Juco for 2 years. I agree 100% that there is no difference at the end, but the money on the front end is significantly more for academics. I had 100% of my school paid for… until yesterday when my offer was pulled, because the new HC is “bringing in 8 or 9! of his own guys” now I’m sitting with no offer, and no money to pay for it… and all the academic scholarships deadlines have passed. It’s the new world… but we are some of the first to walk down this road. @CoachBeede has tried very hard to get players to see this. Parents and players need to listen. If I’m honest… I didn’t listen, I was blinded by the D1 lights. Juco is an excellent path even more so today for high academic players.
