It's frankly bizarre that Venom is still considered a top three Spider-Man foe when he was in that role so briefly. Hobgoblin's reign as Spider-Man's top foe was much longer than Venom's. Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus are the uncontested top two. Kraven might be in there, but it's also odd that his lofty stature is largely due to one six-part story. Lizard is up there, but so are Electro, Scorpion, Mysterio, Vulture, and Sandman. Carnage should also be considered. As for Kingpin, he's probably a better choice for fifth, but he's been far more associated with Daredevil for over four decades now.

These cases are both from this week. A white man fished without permission from the government. A black boy shoved rocks in a 12 year old girl’s mouth while raping her with his friends. Guess who is home and who is in jail.

You think literally defeating Spider-Man and then walking away means he's overrated? The only reason Spider-Man isn't dead after fighting the Shocker is because the Shocker declined to kill him. He did that in his debut in ASM #46. He did it again in Peter Parker: Spider-Man #87. He also has Spider-Man beat in Web of Spider-Man #10 and Deadly Foes of Spider-Man #3, with Spider-Man being saved by Dominic Fortune in the former and a Scourge imposter in the latter. He also had Spider-Man beat in ASM #152, with Spidey being saved by the timely intervention of a couple security guards. He encountered an incapacitated Spider-Man clinging to the side of a building in Peter Parker: Spider-Man #83 and declined to kill him yet again, purely because he wants to defeat him fair and square, which, again, he has done more times than any other classic Spider-Man foe. He's not overrated because he has been portrayed many times as a legitimately formidable foe who has literally defeated Spider-Man several times over in fair fights.

@CinemaSupreme Carnage for being a knock-off of Venom, and Venom for being a villain for like three stories total before Marvel caved and made him a hero.

@SadaSurfer @CinemaSupreme Shocker is easily the most underrated Spider-Man villain. He has the best win-loss ratio versus Spider-Man of any of his classic foes. He has straight up beaten Spider-Man numerous times. Spidey is either saved by someone else, or Shocker just walks away without killing him.
