Class 3 Highfields

What a terrific turn out for our sewing parent workshop last week. We learned so much with the help of our families and had lots of fun sewing our own bookmark. Thank you to everyone for attending! #highfieldsart 🧵

Going into assessment week, Class 3 have been talking about how mistakes can help us learn, and how we can create a growth mindset. As MW so brilliantly put it: "we need to be our own friend,". We came up with kind thoughts to battle against the bad. Well done Class 3 🌟

Our art topic this half-term is all about textiles. Today, we've been practising different stitches. We were very resilient and kept going, even when it got tricky 🧵#highfieldsart

Class 3 have decorated a door for #WorldBookDay2026. The whole idea and all of the details were created by the pupils, and we finished it off today by adding ourselves into our book maze. We couldn’t be prouder of their creativity. Nothing better than getting lost in a good book!

We’ve spent the last two days working on creating pneumatic monster toys! Using a bottle and a balloon, we were able to create monsters whose tongue sticks out when you squeeze the bottle. A great use of pneumatic tech! They turned out amazing, well done Class 3 #highfieldsdt 👹

We've been cooking in #highfieldsdt! We made authentic Stone Age Flatbreads as the bug finish to our instructions writing unit in #highfieldsenglish

We've been testing reflective materials in #highfieldsscience today. We investigated which properties made a material more reflective, such as their colour and shininess. Great investigation skills guys! 🦺🔦

This week we have started our new history topic…The Stone Age ⛰️🪵🛖 To kick off our topic, we had a Stone Age hut building competition! Congrats to our winners with their amazing cave house! #highfieldshistory

In #highfieldsscience, we’ve learned about fossilisation. We used salt and flour (sediments) and water to create a sedimentary rock with a fossilised imprint of a dinosaur. Great work Class 3! 🦖🦕🪨

Shhh…don’t tell Mr Wilkes! Class 3 have been drawing on the tables today! Along with concrete resources, we’ve been learning how to use formal written methods for addition. #HighfieldsMaths

What a fantastic year. We’ve made so many memories and learned so much. It’s been an absolute pleasure to teach this wonderful cohort of superstars. I know you’ll smash it in Year 4! 💖

In #highfieldsmaths we’ve been learning how to draw bar charts. Before drawing, we developed our skills by building a chart using cubes. Well done Class 3!

In #highfieldshistory we’ve been learning how to write like an Egyptian! Some of the hieroglyphs were tricky, but we preserved! We even got to decode some secret messages. Ancient Egyptians are so fascinating! 🇪🇬
