🚨Breaking News, 3 Officers Down, Georgia Gainesville Police Department officers responded to an emergency call 📱 where a female felt threatened and that her life was endanger. Officers arrived on scene and attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire shooting one officer, while other officers on scene returned fire. The suspect refused to come out and it became a barricaded situation. The injured officer was transported from the scene to an area hospital, he is in stable condition. They believe his body armor saved his life, according to the department. A 6 hour standoff ensued with exchanges of gunfire as he came out from the residence. Two additional Gainesville Police officers were injured and transported to the hospital, they are also in stable condition. As for the shooter, he is dead ☠️ The Georgia Bureau of Investigation 🫆 GBI has taken over the investigation. An officer's uniform represents more than just the agency we work for; it represents our community, history, and family name. We felt firsthand overnight the value and true weight of that uniform beyond those meanings. In the midst of a call to serve our community, our officers were put in immediate danger and the uniform saved our officer's life. Chief Jay Parrish said, "Our community lost a life last night because of a senseless act of violence. We are grateful God protected the neighbors, family involved, and officers on scene. Our community and public safety family have been drastically affected by this traumatic incident and we ask that everyone come together to support those navigating through this." The deceased shooter has been identified as Dakota Levi Simmons (24 year old male) of Gainesville, GA. “Our SWAT team’s goal is always to resolve situations safely, but when our SWAT operator and officers with the Gainesville Police Department were met with gunfire, they were forced to respond to a deadly threat,” Interim Hall County Sheriff Chris Matthews said. “In a matter of moments, they had to make a decision no one wants to make. While they are trained for these situations, it does not make them easier. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected. We are grateful for the teamwork among agencies, and most importantly, that Gainesville’s officers are physically OK.” Chief Jay Parrish added, "We are grateful for our Gainesville family, Hall County Sheriff's Office and dispatchers, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, Flowery Branch Police, Gainesville and Hall County Fire, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the overall teamwork it takes to ensure our community is safe." 🚨NEW: ABC’s “Bachelorette” caught on camera allegedly attacking her ex-boyfriend and throwing a chair at him, which appeared to hit her child. Following the surfacing of a 2023 video and a new investigation in Draper City, Utah, Taylor Frankie Paul has released a statement through her representative addressing the cancellation of her season of The Bachelorette. Taylor Frankie Paul's Official Statement Released on March 19, 2026, the statement frames the recent controversy as the result of long-term domestic issues: "After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm. Taylor has remained silent out of fear of further abuse, retaliation, and public shaming. She is currently exploring all her options, seeking support and preparing to own and share her story." Context of the Controversy The statement comes at a critical time for the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star: Bachelorette Cancellation: ABC and Disney Entertainment Television officially scrapped Season 22 of The Bachelorette just three days before its scheduled March 22 premiere. The network cited a "newly released video" (published by TMZ) showing a 2023 altercation between Paul and her ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen. Ongoing Investigation: Police in Draper City confirmed an active domestic assault investigation involving both Paul and Mortensen from late February 2026. Authorities noted that "allegations have been made in both directions." Production Halts: Filming for Season 5 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives has also been paused. Paul's co-stars reportedly expressed that they did not feel comfortable filming given the current legal situation. Dakota Mortensen’s Response Mortensen also released a statement through a representative, categorically denying the abuse claims: "As anyone who has seen the video will understand, this is a deeply upsetting situation. I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny. I am focusing on our son and his safety, and hope that Taylor will do the same."
