Why do we care when it’s not a rapist or other offender? Every time a news outlet or media figure calls a man a woman, it makes it harder for a woman in real life to say ‘no’. Whenever you get this ‘I’m too tolerant to care’ response, remember the woman who can’t say no. There is always a woman who can’t say no. The harm of gender identity based policies are now well-known. Those who’ve said nothing now, never will. For as long as media outlets and media figures pretend that men are women, women will be harmed. Nameless women, women we’ll never hear about. They can’t say no, they might be trying, but they can’t. They are all better than someone who can say no, but chooses not to.
