@saintsissi Also the influx of brands using mood boards as marketing strategy really tainted what used to be something really special back in like Polyvore days

@ClassTerror I also noticed that people engaged more with moodboards that included physical, purchasable objects, & that irked me because I don’t want to sell things or make material things important (even if it was incense, as seen here, or tiger balm lol)

@saintsissi I understand completely, I had a decent following as a teenager online and shared a lot of deeply personal interests and realized how much of my energy I was giving away. Like now I don’t think people should post pics of their bedroom if they wanna protect their energy.

@ClassTerror Mostly because I felt like younger people were interacting with it in a kind of vulture-like way, trying to absorb my consumption and make it their own. I think that’s perfectly normal and healthy for adolescents as they discover their interests, but it felt a bit cloying to me.

I stopped making mine because people asked me about what to consume all of the time and my interests are dear to me. It did feel a bit strange that people sought that guidance and I didn't like the final product.

Genuine question because I made the one on the bottom left 3 years ago but why do we make the assumption that people who curate moodboards of their interests aren't actually into them?
