6/6 Behind the curtain: a "workflow_launch" system lets Anthropic's servers dispatch signed workflow bundles straight into remote (Claude app-connected) CLI sessions — infra-only for now. Also in the works (flags off by default): local transcript compaction to shrink .jsonl files, and a usage-limit "grace window" that has Claude wrap up gracefully instead of cutting off mid-task.

5/6 Hardening batch: the updater can now self-heal a broken "claude" binary after a failed auto-update (restores from a preserved copy), worktree-isolated sessions block sketchy path spellings (UNC shares, symlink tricks), and repo-committed settings can no longer silently redirect your proxy/TLS traffic.

1/6 Claude Code 2.1.217 is out on the next channel 👀 Highlights: a Memory viewer where you can rate & delete what Claude recalled, a new /explain-usage command, a /simplify cleanup workflow, and configurable subagent limits. Plus big infra groundwork for server-dispatched workflows. Thread:

Plus a wave of security hardening: symlink/race-condition protection in Rewind and claude rm, SSRF-style blocking for the new artifact network calls, JWT-aware credential masking in sandboxes, and stricter Linux sandboxing (cap-drop ALL). 7/7

Also in this release: - A new cost report shows 7-day token usage and system-prompt overhead per skill, flagging ones that are loaded but never actually used - In-CLI spend limit & auto-reload management for your API credits (flag-gated rollout) - Resuming a session now falls back gracefully if the agent it used no longer exists, instead of failing 6/7

Claude Code 2.1.216 (npm "next") is a big one: artifacts get a full publishing platform — multi-file pages plus a live-watch subscription system — and Auto mode is now the default permission mode. Thread on what's new 🧵 1/7

3/3 Everything else this release is internal plumbing and small gated wording tweaks (not yet active for anyone) — no new models, tools, slash commands, or CLI flags. Next release we're watching whether the subagent-steering experiment starts rolling out wider.

2/3 The experiment has 3 modes: default (today's behavior, unchanged), no_nudges (removes the "use the Agent tool instead" hints from Glob/Grep/plan-mode prompts), and counter_steer (goes further, adding explicit guidance that subagents "multiply cost and time" and telling Claude to do small tasks inline, avoid fanning out multiple agents on one task, and not double-check verifiable work with an extra agent). Net effect if it rolls out: less subagent delegation, lower cost, less parallelism. You can force a mode yourself with CLAUDE_CODE_THISTLE_GREBE=default|no_nudges|counter_steer.

1/3 Claude Code 2.1.215 is a quiet release, but there's an experiment worth watching: Anthropic is A/B testing how eager Claude is to spin up subagents (the Agent/Task tool) for search and research work. Behind a flag for now — here's what it does. 🧵

Claude Code 2.1.214 (npm next) is a quiet one — just a version/build metadata bump over 2.1.213, no functional changes. Nothing new to try here; if you're on 2.1.213 you're not missing anything. 🤖

6/6 Continued (still gated) groundwork for shared org/team memory synced from claude.ai, including read-only team memory access — not usable yet for most people. Also: the experimental "morning brief" feature has been removed entirely.

5/6 Ultrareview (/code-review) keeps getting more robust: better handling of shallow git clones with clearer messaging and fallback when there's no shared history, explicit effort-level framing in review prompts, and clearer messages when there's simply nothing to review yet. Also, the post-session feedback survey now sometimes follows up with a free-text "what went well / wrong" prompt — still a small rollout.
