After a lengthy battle with dementia, Howie Evans passed Thursday in Wilson, NC. A writer/columnist on all sports for the Amsterdam News, he was most associated with basketball. Coached kids, college, Rucker pros & was the next to last living founders of the NYC HOF. I am last.

I remember Coach Carnesecca in 2009 visiting the wake for John Isaacs, star player for the world championship winning New York Rens (1939) and Washington Bears (1943), to pay respects. Didn’t have to do it, but that’s who he was. Game recognize game. 🙌🏽 Rest in Peace, gentlemen.
