I went to the courthouse to look up Travis Juhr's papers, but most of it isn't posted yet (secret indictments don't contain much MEAT). Ya know what I did find? Tommy Allen's final judgment for assault and DisCon... which included his criminal history in other states.

I checked in on Eric's case yesterday. He had his opportunity to pitch being his own attorney, and was such a mess the judge sent him to Oregon State Hospital. Eric Oelkers the Neo Nazi is undergoing a competency evaluation. He will be held no longer than 90 days.

I used to counsel people who had committed violent crimes but the state had found they were not mentally culpable. Many folks call this "not guilty by reason of insanity". I designed and lead group therapy for murderers, mostly. For the most part I really liked my job.

Now I'm two months from the wedding, and my entire bridal party is "gently suggesting" I find something more "classic." My mother-in-law offered to buy me a "proper" dress from David's Bridal. But when I put this on, I see my grandmother's garden, her stories about village celebrations, the culture she left behind when she immigrated. Yes, it's not a traditional white gown. Yes, people might whisper. But isn't a wedding dress supposed to make you feel like the truest version of yourself? I'm torn between keeping peace and keeping this dress that makes my heart sing every time I look at those embroidered birds
