Work to winterise the pump ready for floods is yet again delayed by our 5th flood of the season. Late October is early for the first flood. #SometimesLifeIsLessGoodByWater

A violent flood this morning. Very worrying as it's mid season and we haven't brought everything upstairs. Some of the floor appears to have ripped out... Unsure as of yet if we will be open for our October open days.

The pumping station has flooded after this weeks heavy rainfall. Unfortunately we have no choice but to cancel the running day this Saturday. We will have volunteers in attendance clearing up after the flood, we will be happy to show any visitors as much as we safely can.

A huge lapsed coppice (mostly underwater) has blocking part of the weir since flood season. It would have built up a huge silt bank if left in place. Thanks to a local farm who helped to clear it with their tractor.

We just got out volunteer statistics for January-March. Of 1,236 hours of volunteering, over 500 were spent clearing up floods and clearing the trees that the floods brought with them out of the leat. Thank you to all of our wonderful #volunteers!

First test run of the year. A little more work to be done before we do our first public run on the 6th of May. So great to see it run after a trying winter.

@Bozenka_2023 This said for about 140 years it was run by a single employee. But 7 days a week morning, noon, and night they worked alone in an active machine. The Georgian and Victorian workers were incredible to keep these things going

@Bozenka_2023 We maintain the ability to pump up to the canal as part of our Grade I listing. But pumping today is provided by electric pumps. To run we need oiling 3-4 times a day. It would take an army of volunteers too keep it running 24-7 ...
