@EwensMercedes I’m not sitting around expecting long term damage because I was frozen. I’m busy being alive. What a blessing!!
English

@churchtalkative Coming? He’s already here. In me and through me. This is going to be spiritual slugfest to the end, with Souls in the balance.
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 Well, you are right on some level. I think we just disagree where that line is.
English

@Cldddy @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 I’ll take a break from the X-bombs right after this one.
The bottom line seems to be that there are many radical teachings of Jesus that virtually no “Christians” follow.
My interpretation of this fact is that there are virtually no Christians.
Yours is to de-radicalize the texts
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 Look, the bottom line is, the conviction and conversation around it is fantastic. It should be a constant. I don’t think having those things is necessarily serving mammon. In excess or sole focus for sure. Prudence and responsibility is good.
English

@Cldddy @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 Through these devices that we OWN, billions of destitute people are “put in front of” us daily.
I admit why I have a savings account, retirement investments, extra food in my freezer & extra clothes in my closet.
I serve Mammon.
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 Yes like I said, open hand or clutched? I think that guy is being overly dramatic and hyperbolic but there is some truth to it.
English

@Cldddy @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 Don’t your actions reveal your “heart posture”?
Peter Rollins nailed it for me.

English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 By your heart posture in times the Lord puts an opportunity in front of you to test it and you have the means. Do you clutch it or open your hand?
English

@Cldddy @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 And how can you measure how much you love money?
By your savings?
By your anxiety when you have no savings at all?
By the contents of your freezer & closet?

English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 I think we have all at some completely loved it and still battle it. Just like a lot of other sins. My belief that some savings is prudent. Excessive savings because of greed isn’t ok. Never miss an opportunity to be generous. It’s heart posture by the Spirit. Not legalism
English

@Cldddy @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 I am dismissing my own 40+ years of claiming that I didn’t “love money”.
When I read Mt 6 now, I see the connection to “storing” (aka saving) $ & with worrying about “stuff”.
The bigger my savings account, the less I worry about stuff & vice versa.
Be honest. How ‘bout you.

English

@AlanChilders6 @god_wrestle @shane_pruitt78 Btw, you better sell your phone or computer- whatever you are arguing and on and donate the proceeds.
English

@AlanChilders6 @god_wrestle @shane_pruitt78 This is a viscous cycle. I explained that to you. Goodbye
English

@Cldddy @god_wrestle @shane_pruitt78 Meanwhile Jesus: “sell your possessions and give to the poor.”
The early Church: “All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had”
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 Matthew 6:24 (ESV)
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 Jesus said not love money because one cannot see two Lords. Are you out and out dismissing clear scripture now?
English

@god_wrestle @Cldddy @shane_pruitt78 Not there. I’m talking about for their temporary trips to plant churches. Followers of Christ should be free of possession in general.
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 2 Thessalonians 3:12 (ESV)
Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 2 Thessalonians 3:12 (ESV)
Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 2 Thessalonians 3:7-8 (ESV)
For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you.
English

@god_wrestle @AlanChilders6 @shane_pruitt78 1 Thessalonians 2:9 (ESV)
For you remember, brothers, our labor and toil: we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you, while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
