First new #invasivespecies/#forestheath pest laurel wilt detections of '22 in coastal NC. Lots of new counties were lit up in '21across the region. Spots in the western and northern part of the region keep expanding, and more positives in the Appalachian region on sassafras.

In collaboration with @PlantDocEllie, we found #oak decline caused by #Diplodia corticola. We inoculated red, white, and live oaks and they all showed #disease symptoms. Entire #HadziabdicLab participated in #greenhouse #research #experiments. @epp_tn @UTAgResearch @plantdisease

The #foresthealth pest southern pine beetle (Dendroctonus frontalis) is now in MAINE. Not so southern anymore, is it? The big question now is why - natural range expansion, #climatechange, a combination? The answer is probably yes.
