Wondering who we are? We are a group of current and former law clerks who have worked together since December. We believe that significant changes are necessary to address the potential for harassment of employees who work in the federal court system.

@CLSClerks @ClerksForChange @Jaime_ASantos @happygolawky @ColumbiaLaw These women are doing an amazing job of raising the right questions and suggesting good answers to them. They are also giving generously from a limited resource—their time. Judges need to step up to work more fully and more openly on these issues.

Excited to speak at @ColumbiaLaw tomorrow with @Jaime_ASantos and Kendall Turner on behalf of @ClerksForChange. Looking forward to discussing clerkships, advocating for change, and the role law schools can play in helping our efforts. Come say hi if you're around!

Deeva's work on judicial accountability is remarkable. Speaking truth to power is one thing. Mobilizing a pragmatic change effort aimed at *the* professional power structure in your field is something else entirely. Vision, persistence, and integrity in service of others. 👊

My testimony this morning focused on a few changes the judiciary (or Congress) should to make to actually encourage reporting and ensure accountability. I'd like to highlight a few things. 1/

@rachel221 @molly_coleman This is exactly why we started @ClerksForChange. Otherwise, there's no impetus for change. People leave a year later, and there's no incentive to keep fighting.

It is worth remembering in all of this the "missing" women in law - how only about 1/4 of tenured / tenure-track law professors are women; how only about 1/4 of law partners are women. This is not just a story about how the profession could be more "family friendly."

Thread: In thinking back upon Liv Warren's testimony, I want to highlight this portion, in which Warren recounts how much time and emotional energy she spent thinking and worrying about what had happened and what she should do about it.

Deeva Shah on #MeTooInTheCourts: “Law clerks from numerous federal courts shared with our organization that they had felt demeaned, belittled, and humiliated during their clerkships…and that they did not feel comfortable reporting.” Watch her full statement here.

@LeahLitman And I want to highlight that portion of Olivia's testimony because the hearing was not about Judge Reinhardt alone, it was about the federal judiciary’s failures. This hearing means little if these systems do not change. /end

This morning, I had the opportunity to testify before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Courts. I have a lot to say about today, but I want to start by talking about the testimony of one of the bravest women I know, Olivia Warren. 1/

@ClerksForChange Olivia Warren: "It was only after Dahlia Lithwick spoke out that I was able to go to a mentor of mine." The women who are speaking out are having such a profound impact on the lives of so many. Thank you. #EndJudicialHarassment

As I prepare for this hearing, all I can think about is the amazing women who have gone above and beyond to fight for better. From the team at @ClerksForChange to the women who have spoken truth to power to every woman who picked up my calls to help me prepare, thank you.

"The LCWA’s tenacity is making a difference. The LCWA is to be commended for holding the judiciary’s feet to the fire. Their work honors the brave individuals who have already stepped forward and helps protect those court employees who may endure treatment yet to come to light."
