Canceled without discussion, as if he had full legal authority over my potato decisions. I just sat there staring at him. This man had known me for maybe 20 minutes and was already editing my order. I asked why he did that. He said, “You can just have some of mine.” That was not the point. First of all, I wanted my own fries. Second, I do not want to negotiate over side dishes with a man I barely know. And.,......

Or maybe… just maybe… he assumed sharing food on a date was normal human behavior and not the opening chapter of a dictatorship. Some of you turn every awkward moment into a full psychological documentary. “He canceled my fries” somehow became: “He will control my wardrobe, my future and probably my blood type by date three.” Meanwhile the guy was probably just trying to avoid paying for two portions of fries sitting on the same table. Not every man making a small decision is “controlling.” Sometimes it’s just social clumsiness. Sometimes it’s confidence. And sometimes people are so used to individualism that basic sharing now feels like oppression. If canceled fries emotionally ended the date, the relationship was never surviving real problems anyway.

Mir wurde ein internes Schreiben zugespielt, und es ist ein kleiner Knaller: 🚨 Georg Stamatelopoulos, Vorstandsvorsitzender der EnBW, hat am Wochenende auf Viva Engage, dem firmeninternen Social Tool, eine lange Nachricht an seine Belegschaft geschickt. Über 6.000 Views. Anlass: die SPIEGEL Enthüllung, an die ihr euch sicherlich erinnert. Unter anderem hatte sein Konzern auf Ersuchen von Ministerin Katherina Reiche ein Papier geliefert, das Batteriespeicher bei den Milliarden Auktionen des Kraftwerkssicherheitsgesetzes benachteiligen soll. Nochmal zum Mitschreiben: Hierbei handelte es sich um Argumente, die von Reiches Wirtschaftsministerium angefordert worden waren, nicht um die proaktive Lobbyarbeit des Unternehmens. Das Lobbyregister erfuhr übrigens erst davon, als der SPIEGEL nachfragte. Über diesen Sachverhalt gab es bei der eigenen Belegschaft der EnBW offenbar im Intranet regen Gesprächsbedarf, so sehr, dass der Oberchef sich bemüßigt fühlte, sich dazu zu äußern. Stamatelopoulos verrät in seiner Nachricht drei Dinge, die er nach außen so wohl eher nicht sagen dürfte. Zum einen schweigt er zum eigentlichen Vorwurf, dass das Papier auf Ministeriumsanfrage entstand. Kein Wort zu dieser Auftragsarbeit. Der Kern der SPIEGEL Geschichte ist für den Vorstand dieses Konzerns offenbar nicht so wichtig, also umschifft er ihn, räumt aber ein, dass mit der Eintragung ins Lobbyregister nicht alles so toll lief, da wolle man in Zukunft genauer hinschauen. Nach einer kleinen Lobrede auf die EnBW, in der er unter anderem lobt, welche Fortschritte man auch im Speicherausbau mache, verteidigt er dann indirekt seine Vorschläge ans BMWE: „Speicherprojekte brauchen keine Förderung“ und würden durch den Ausschluss aus den Auktionen „nicht gebremst“. Das ist rhetorisch elegant, sachlich irreführend, denn diese Auktionen sind keine Förderung im klassischen Sinn, sondern bieten Marktzugang zu einem milliardenschweren Kapazitätsmarkt. Wer dort nicht mitbieten darf, verliert nicht etwa eine Subvention, sondern darf im Geschäft erst gar nicht mitmischen. Parallel dazu werden den Speichern woanders die Rahmenbedingungen zertrümmert: Die Netzentgeltbefreiung kippt gerade, Großspeicher fliegen aus der Kraftwerks Netzanschlussverordnung. Drei Hebel, alle gleichzeitig, alle gegen Speicher. „Keine Förderung nötig“ – sagt ausgerechnet der Konzern, der dafür sorgt, dass die Speicher draußen bleiben. EnBW baut selbst Speicher, wie wir oben bereits lesen konnten. Aktuell seien 1800 MW in der Pipeline, so Stamatelopoulos stolz. Übersetzt heißt das: Speicher sind gut, solange wir sie bauen. Wenn andere bieten wollen, müssen sie draußen bleiben. Der subventionierte Teil des Marktes gehört uns. Die dreisteste Stelle in seiner Nachricht an die Mitarbeiter steckt allerdings in dieser Botschaft: „Minister werden nicht nur aus fachlichen Gründen attackiert, sondern auch aus rein politischem Kalkül. Die heutige Regierung teilt dasselbe Schicksal mit ihrer Vorgängerin.“ Womit er wohl sagen möchte, dass Habeck kritisiert wurde, heute Reiche, alles dasselbe Muster. Ein Konzernchef erklärt hier seiner Belegschaft, dass die Kritik an der Ministerin irgendwie unfair sei, und nimmt sich selbst vor, „die EnBW zu repräsentieren, ohne politisch zu werden“, was lustig ist, da er dem Ministerium durchaus hilfreich und wie bestellt tolle Argumente geliefert hat. „Wenn Sie diese Haltung übernehmen, wären wir ein Team dabei“, motiviert er die Belegschaft, um in diesem soliden Miteinander aus Privatwirtschaft und Politik an einem Strang zu ziehen. Kommen wir zurück zum gemeinsamen Schicksal von Frau Reiche und Herrn Habeck. Problem: Letzterer wurde angegriffen, weil er die Gaslobby einhegen wollte. Ihm ging es um feste Dekarbonisierungstermine, klare Wasserstoffpfade, Abschaltdaten. Frau Reiche wird kritisiert, weil sie direkt bei der Gaslobby bestellt, was diese ihr dann liefert. Das ist nicht „dasselbe Schicksal“. Das ist ein Systemwechsel. Und hier wird es politisch ernst. Das Geschäftsmodell der Fossilen lebt von einem einzigen Argument: Die Erneuerbaren sind so volatil, blöde Dunkelflaute, was machen wir bloß nachts? Dieses Argument trägt vor allem, solange es nicht genug Speicher gibt. Mit ausreichenden Speichern löst sich das Problem in Luft auf. Also muss der Speicherausbau gebremst werden, wenn man doch noch Gas verkaufen möchte. Genau dafür sorgen Netzentgelte, Anschlussregime und jetzt die Auktionsbedingungen. Parallel dazu bleibt der Ausbau der Stromtrassen von Nord nach Süd seit Jahren im Rückstand, Windstrom wird abgeregelt, teure Gas Reservekraftwerke laufen an, die dann allerdings von uns allen bezahlt werden. Der Mangel ist kein Schicksal. Er wird gepflegt. Von Leuten wie Stamatelopoulos. Und, schlimmer, von einer Wirtschaftsministerin, die sich die Argumente gegen die klimafreundliche Konkurrenztechnologie direkt beim Konzern bestellt, der am meisten davon profitiert. Reiche regiert nicht trotz der Gaslobby. Sie regiert mit ihr, in arbeitsteiliger Abstimmung. Und der Konzernchef erklärt seiner Belegschaft, das sei alles nur „politisches Kalkül“. Ein Team. Die Frag ist nur, für wen.

Germany's foreign ministry made a misleading post (details below) to mask the fact it allowed the nomination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to a UN committee that addresses critical issues including women’s rights and terrorism prevention — failing to object as the US did, and as EU states have done in the past. (See all links & sources here: unwatch.org/germanys-misle…) The fact is that Germany, as a member of the 54-nation UN Economic and Social Council, participated in the consensus nomination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN Committee for Programme and Coordination on April 8, 2026. This committee deals with budget priorities and program coordination on critical issues, and will meet soon to address women’s rights, human rights, and terrorism prevention. At a minimum, Germany should have taken the floor to object that it is wrong to nominate a regime that only months ago massacred thousands of protesters, and that brutally oppresses women, tortures political prisoners, and systematically violates basic human rights. This is exactly what the United States did in that meeting. It was the only country that formally objected and disassociated itself from the consensus decision, citing Iran’s appalling record on women’s rights. Germany and other Western democracies, however, remained silent and allowed the consensus to pass in ECOSOC, a body of which Germany is a member. Notably, in a similar scenario in April 2022, the EU and several other democracies took the floor to object to the election of a Russian candidate, months after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Speaking on behalf of Germany and all other EU member states, France took the floor to object and disassociate the EU states from the decision. This precedent from 2022 confirms that Germany clearly had the option to object to the nomination of Iran’s regime, but it made the decision not to do so. Germany’s Reply is Misleading The German foreign ministry’s recent reply to criticism of its actions is misleading. @AuswaertigesAmt posted: “The election of the members of this UN committee will only take place in November at the UN General Assembly. This refers to the nomination of candidates by the Asia-Pacific regional group, which was accepted by acclamation. An election of Iran by  did not take place.”  (Translation.) The truth: •  It is false and misleading to claim that the “nomination” of Iran was done by the Asia-Pacific regional group. Although it is the regional groups that first propose candidates, the UN procedure is very clear that the formal “nomination” is effected by the members of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). It is a fact that the nomination of Iran was done by Germany and the other members, in a consensus decision. Saying or suggesting otherwise is false and misleading. • Saying that the “nomination” of Iran “was accepted by acclamation” is wrong and misleading in two ways: first, there was no “nomination” for ECOSOC to “accept” because, as explained above, while the regional groups propose candidates, it is only Germany and the other ECOSOC members who have the power of “nomination”; second, the foreign ministry here uses passive language to imply that Iran’s name was merely “accepted” by some anoymous entity, in a disingenuous attempt to mask Germany’s active decision to participate in the consensus nomination of Iran. • Saying that “an election of Iran by did not take place” is a straw-man argument, because UN Watch never claimed there was an “election.” Rather, what happened on April 8th — as UN Watch first exposed in this viral tweet — is that Germany and the others decided to nominate Iran, and then failed to take the floor to object -- as the US did in that meeting, and as the EU, UK, and Canada had done in a similar scenario in April 2022. • The German foreign ministry is correct that “the election of the members of this UN committee will only take place in November at the UN General Assembly.” However, the decisive step in this process was the ECOSOC nomination of Iran, supported by Germany, on April 8th. Past practice shows that the formal election by the UN General Assembly in November 2026 will almost certainly rubber-stamp the nomination of Iran. @SperberKo Die Wahl der Mitglieder dieses UN-Gremiums findet erst im November in der UN-Generalversammlung statt. Sie beziehen sich auf die Kandidaten-Nominierung durch die asiatisch-pazifische Regionalgruppe, die per Akklamation angenommen wurde. Eine Wahl Irans durch 🇩🇪 fand nicht statt.

Sehr geehrter Herr Minister, erklären Sie mir bitte auch, warum 🇩🇪 die Islamische Republik Iran in ein UN-Gremium gewählt hat, in dem über Frauenrechte beraten werden soll? Der US-Vertreter bei der UN hat es abgelehnt, u.a. mit der Begründung Iran halte Frauenrechte nicht ein.
