On the court success means very little in this era of College athletics and it stands true, yet again with @UNCG_MikeJones not getting an extension after 3 straight 20win seasons and no real 💰 to retain talent... some that was developed in house on his watch!!! 👋
Mike Jones@UNCG_MikeJones

I’m a champion & a competitor, so I always want to win more games & C’hips, but I’m proud of the 3 str8 20-win seasons & 93 wins in 5 years, including 57 conference wins. My job as coach is much more than wins, so I’m equally proud of our off-court success. Those matter more…

Devasting😞 I am sure that you and RANDY💪🏽 will get GRABBED✊🏽 up by another phenomenal university. This coaching staff did not deserve to get the SHAFT🍆 like this. I know UNCG Admin will regret this.

It’s been a little over 24 hours since I was told my contract would not be renewed. I am disappointed & have done a lot of thinking. My thoughts… I appreciate the time that I’ve had here at UNCG. The 5 yrs have been both challenging & rewarding, like most low & mid-major jobs,

Class Act. This man didn't know who I was & welcomed me to a workout. The entire coaching staff spoke w/ me & took the time to answer any questions I had. @UNCG_MikeJones took time out of his busy schedule just to talk to me about his program & philosophy toward coaching. (1/2)

Whoever gets @UNCG_MikeJones next just know you’re going to get a worker and a genuine human being. He builds young people to be fulfilled beyond the court.

I’m not his agent, but I do know what success in college basketball looks like. When a coach builds up two programs, wins, and cares deeply about mentoring, teaching valuable lessons, and serving as a role model, that’s the person you want to hire. Mike Jones is all of the above. @UNCG_MikeJones Coach Jones has a long and successful résumé in the game, it could be a big blessing in disguise that UNCG went in a different direction. If the only goal Is the NCAA Tournament or win the regular season title at UNCG he didn’t do it-but he was winning (57–33 in conference games.) The fact that his two best players left for greener pastures: imagine still having Kenyon Giles now at Wichita State (19 ppg) or Donovan Atwell at Texas Tech (45% from three) A Final Four assistant at VCU, he then took Radford to their third NCAA tournament as he won the Big South Tournament in 2018. He won two Big South regular-season titles in 2019 and 2020. He was also a two-time Big South Coach of the Year (2018, 2020) and the SoCon co‑Coach of the Year (Media) in 2023. He is a thorough and excellent evaluator of talent and knows how to develop players. Don’t forget Javonte Green at Radford (2015–2019); he became the first player in program history to make an NBA roster. Carlik Jones was next. The profession knows success, Mike Jones will be a head coach again.

Sometimes in life, God smiles on you with the people He puts in your life. Coach Jones, I can’t put into words the impact you’ve had on me over the past 15+ years. Thank you, love you, and I KNOW whatever you do next will be Elite!

This is what conviction looks like. Once, one of the most hated men in America. Eventually became one of the most beloved people in the world. Hold firm to your beliefs.

#RestInPower to Rev. Jesse Jackson. Today, we honor a giant whose voice, courage, and love for our people shaped generations. Reverend Jesse Jackson was not only a civil rights icon—he was family to the NAACP. His legacy sits at the heart of our work and at the center of this nation’s fight for justice. When Franklin Joined Charlie Brown In 1968, It Turned A Simple Comic Strip Into A Civil Rights Milestone. When Franklin joined Charlie Brown in 1968, it quietly turned a beloved comic strip into a civil rights milestone. Franklin was introduced to Peanuts at the height of the Civil Rights Movement, just weeks after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. He was one of the first Black characters to regularly appear in a mainstream American comic without being reduced to stereotypes. Created by Charles M. Schulz, Franklin wasn’t written as a lesson or a punchline. He was simply a kid — polite, confident, thoughtful — who talked with Charlie Brown, shared lunch with him, and later sat beside him in class. That simple act mattered. At a time when schools across the U.S. were still segregated or violently resisting integration, seeing a Black child and a white child treated as equals in a national comic strip was quietly radical. Schulz faced backlash for Franklin’s inclusion, especially when he depicted Franklin sitting next to Charlie Brown in school. He refused to back down. By insisting Franklin remain part of the strip without stereotypes or fanfare, Schulz normalized what much of America still resisted: equality. Franklin didn’t shout slogans or march in the streets — but his presence helped shape how a generation of children saw race, friendship, and belonging. Sometimes progress doesn’t arrive loudly. Sometimes it shows up in the funny pages.
