And Minister for Climate Action, @KatieJWhite, reaffirmed the UK Government’s commitment to clean energy and argues that continued climate action is essential for both climate goals and energy security.

APPG member @Wera_Hobhouse insisted that the UK’s dependence on fossil fuels caused by previous failure to invest sufficiently in renewables and home insulation led directly to the spike in energy bills in recent years.

It was a pleasure to host the Minister for Industry, @ChrisMcDonaldMP, for a roundtable today to discuss the government’s Clean Energy Jobs Plan, which sets out how the government plans to deliver and support the workforce needed to meet the UK’s clean energy ambitions👷⚡️

APPG member @JeevunSandher highlighted that the UK’s dependence on fossil fuels has led to an affordability crisis and asked how the UK's transition away from fossil fuels will tackle the cost of household energy head on.

As climate costs escalate, at home and abroad, the cost of the transition is falling, as technologies innovate and improve. APPG member @PollyBLabour argued that investment in renewables will reduce the cost of energy and provide vital energy security in an uncertain world.

APPG member @_OliviaBlake urged the government to continue leadership shown at the COP30 negotiations when championing a road map for fossil fuel phase out by ruling out extraction at Rosebank.

APPG member @Abtisam_Mohamed welcomed the UK’s support for the Belém Action Mechanism at COP30, but called for faster progress in moving away from oil and gas and the need to reject the application to extract from Rosebank.
