OPCMIA Local 528, the concrete masons of the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, have been doing something most people don't know about. They voted with their own dues to invest in green training. First in our Member Highlight, Link below.

Washington just linked its carbon market with California & Québec — and it's a landmark win for working families. The CCA is on track for $9B in economic output and 45,000 jobs in 8 years. Linkage accelerates all of it. Union workers build this state and our future too. 🔧⚡

PSE + the Port of Bellingham just opened a new 100 kW community solar site at Zuanich Point Park, PSE's 14th. 68 subscription shares available. 47 reserved at no cost for low-income customers. Clean energy access shouldn't depend on whether you own a roof.

Big win for Klickitat County. Avangrid is building Bluebird Solar, a 140 MW project with a Microsoft power purchase agreement. ~300 construction jobs (most union), $11M in property tax revenue, and $300M invested in WA. Online by 2028.

Washington just put $60.4M behind 96 clean energy projects in 33 counties. Solar. Battery storage. Microgrids. Thermal networks. Grid hardening against wildfires. Combined with April's tribal awards, that is $77.2M across 118 community projects this spring.

Puget Sound Energy is adding nearly 200 MW of wind from Big Horn I in Klickitat County, enough to power 70,000 homes a year. PSE is now 58% clean, up from 26% in 2019, working toward greenhouse gas neutral by 2030 under state law. Real progress, with a lot still ahead. Read more

Washington heading into next session with: → slowing revenue → a workforce shortage → a looming energy crisis A clean energy jobs strategy addresses all three. Permitting reform + clear demand signals + direct investment in projects = career pathways. Time to call your reps.

A reliable clean energy grid needs storage. Storage projects need workers. We're making sure those are good union jobs for electricians, laborers, and tradespeople across WA. Founding members: SierraClubWA, Certified Electrical Workers of WA, Clean & Prosperous WA, Jupiter Power.

THE GOOD: We did see wins with investments in thermal energy & clean transit. But the big picture is clear: without upgrading our grid, we can't build. We must demand more.

THE BAD: The big transmission bill (SB 5466) & a bill to streamline project siting both DIED. These bills would have streamlined our ability to get projects moving quickly from start to finish and, as a result, invest hundreds of thousands of dollars into our state’s workers.
