2 people a day are diagnosed with cancer during or just after pregnancy in the UK. But as maternity leave can’t be paused, this precious time is be lost. Mummy’s Star is calling for mums to be able to defer their leave until treatment has finished, and I'm proud to support them.

4,162 off-grid homes in Wokingham are being hit hard by surging heating oil prices. One resident told me they were quoted a 232% price increase since January. I’ve demanded the Chancellor act to ensure that residents aren’t left in the cold and are protected from price surges.

I voted against the Government’s Courts and Tribunals Bill which would restrict your right to a trial by jury. Trial by a jury is an ancient right and restricting it would be a scandal. This won't fix the backlog in our courts and justice staff must see the change they deserve.

Millions of voters are robbed of their voice in elections because of unfair first-past-the-post voting. This has gone on for too long. I’m proud to support Liberal Democrats for Electoral Reform and their campaign to introduce a fairer proportional representation voting system.

(3/3)Vickie Robertson and her team at Kaleidoscopic UK support many victims of domestic abuse in our area. The Government must ensure adequate funding for charities like Kaleidoscopic UK so victims aren't forced to return to perpetrators due to inadequate temporary accommodation.

(2/3) My team and I have worked with many women who have been victims of domestic abuse, some feel unsupported by the police, courts and other services. Proper training for police and prosecutors on the impact of trauma is essential to ensure victims get the support they deserve.

(1/3) Wokingham sits in the top 10% of UK local authorities for women’s outcomes. That means local women generally have better pay equality, life expectancies and job progression than average. But overall outcomes for women are still behind men. This must change.

My team and I have resolved over 10,000 cases since 2024, from responding to online safety concerns to helping residents living in mould-ridden homes. I also delivered a petition calling for better brain cancer treatment to 10 Downing Street. Here’s what else I’ve done this week:

Vulnerable people here in the UK are being taking advantage of by illicit online sellers of counterfeit medicine. Lilly UK are raising public awareness of these online sellers of fake medicines and I was proud to show my support for their mission.

Young people deserve the best start, and apprenticeships offer hands-on experience that can lead to fantastic careers. But local businesses are struggling to find suitable courses for apprentices, which is why I called for a debate on how we can help more young people into work.

The likelihood of ovarian cancer being diagnosed early depends on where patients live. Early diagnosis rates range from 21% to 62%, just because of where patients are treated. In Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, I met with The Eve Appeal to call for this postcode lottery to end.

Rare cancers are not rare - about a quarter of all cancer patients are living with rarer forms of the disease. I met with some of the UK’s leading rare cancer charities to discuss how we can continue delivering meaningful progress in research and treatment to save lives.

Since 2021, Thames Water has illegally dumped untreated sewage in Wokingham 78 times – directly putting your health and our environment in danger. This cannot continue, which is why I’m calling for Thames Water to be put under special administration to end this scandal.

Today, I fought for the Frimley and Royal Berkshire hospitals to be given the funding they need to rebuild their crumbling infrastructure. But this is not just an issue in Wokingham, it is a national scandal. Healthcare staff and patients deserve better.

Brain cancer is the biggest cancer killer of children and under 40-year-olds. I helped to hand deliver a petition demanding proper investment in diagnostics and treatment for brain cancer straight to 10 Downing Street. Patients deserve meaningful investment to save lives.

On International Women’s Day, we honour the achievements and invaluable contributions women have made across history and across the world. The Lib Dems are passionate about building a future free from inequality. We will continue fighting for the future all women deserve.

This week, I demanded better investment for the rebuilding of the Royal Berks and Frimley Park Hospital after years of Conservative neglect. My team and I are also working to help constituents stuck in the Middle East get back to the UK. Here’s what else I’ve done this week:

The buildings at the Royal Berkshire and Frimley Park hospitals are crumbling around staff and patients. And we are still having to fight hard for the new GP surgeries we need to cover new housing, such as at Arborfield. Today I demanded meaningful investment to deliver change.

The Festival of Colour brings light and festivities to many communities in the UK and around the world, and I’d like to wish everyone celebrating a happy and joyous Holi.

The Blood Cancer Alliance is an organisation of 16 charities fighting for the same cause: ensuring everyone with blood cancer lives longer and better lives. Yesterday I met with some of the UK’s leading blood cancer charities to discuss how we can work together to achieve this.
