@culturaltutor It was partly a satire of how people on the coasts view mid-westerners. The "farmer" was Dr. B.H. McKeeby, a dentist who never held a pitchfork in his life.

4. American Gothic by Grant Wood (1930) The house in the background — the Dibble House in Eldon, Iowa — still looks exactly as Wood painted it. But you can see how Wood altered, and almost caricatured, the models: his sister Nan Wood Graham and his dentist Byron McKeeby.

BREAKING: Palestinian ambassador to the UN says 'for millions of Palestinians, there is no home to go back to' and asks, 'why do some feel so much pain for Israelis and so little pain for us? What is the problem? Do we have the wrong faith, the wrong skin color, the wrong nationality?'

@rgkny @Joradanian2020 @spectatorindex Seems at the very least they're displaying wanton disregard for the lives of civilians, which is just as morally reprehensible as actively targeting them.

@Marqrk1 @metalgearobama Just saying, it's not unheard of for homeless folks to have guns. Most I've known carry a knife for protection. If a person is able to get a gun for self defense, I can see why they might prefer it.

@metalgearobama Homeless people, famous for their ability to purchase and maintain firearms, especially ones that seem to have attachments as seems to be the case from this image (I see a scope and what looks like some kind of under barrel flashlight or something? Idk it’s very blurry)

@metalgearobama Lewiston has a very high Somali population. Wouldn’t surprise me if he was targeting Muslims, in which case Bill is more right than one might expect, albeit for other reasons.

@adimeglioxyz @Raykris1 This place has coffee and alcohol, and while the quality of the coffee clearly isn't meant to be the draw, the cheeky message kinda on in, non-drinkers!"

@Raykris1 Was at Delah Coffee last Saturday night in SF and it was a revelation. So refreshing to see loud, bright conversations in the evening going on without alcohol. Hopeful for a similar spot to gain popularity in NYC that offers an alternative to the alcohol-centric social culture

Finally, a coffee house in my neighborhood that does not confine itself to the Eurocentric view of coffee. The workers are Yemeni Arabs, it takes time, the customers are not swamped by professional upper classes (sartorially or linguistically). Noisy, chatty, place not confined to European languages and accents I had forgotten that coffee was not Italian Sweetened coffee with cardamom. The custom pour is to drink it in company

Peekaboo culture is so toxic. This dude just straight up disappeared behind his hands mid conversation and then shows up again like it’s no big deal? And yeah I’m giggling and it’s funny as fuck. But that does NOT make this kind of behavior okay

Say what you will about Sen. Romney’s conservative policy and legislative preferences, I certainly don’t agree with him on much, but he’s long been one of only a very few in the GOP who’ve had the integrity and political courage to call a spade a spade regarding his own party and to publicly acknowledge and call out its decent into authoritarianism and the dangers of the MAGA cult. For that I am thankful. This is admittedly a bit awkward, but what the hell. I’m fighting cancer and trying to reach as many as possible. If you happen to see this and are able to help w/ a small donation, or even a share, that would be freaking awesome, and much appreciated. Every bit helps. gofund.me/7828d7df

Mitt Romney sent this text to Mitch McConnell on Jan. 2, 2021: "In case you have not heard this, I just got a call from Angus King, who said that he had spoken with a senior official at the Pentagon who reports that they are seeing very disturbing social media traffic regarding the protests planned on the 6th. There are calls to burn down your home, Mitch; to smuggle guns into DC, and to storm the Capitol. I hope that sufficient security plans are in place, but I am concerned that the instigator—the President—is the one who commands the reinforcements the DC and Capitol police might require." McConnell never responded. theatlantic.com/magazine/archi…

@Janxzera @Irunnia_ @InternetH0F @Chisomnwagbaraa It's impressive that you figured it out on your own when most men need to hear it from some dorky misogynist who learned it from his step dad, who learned it from his wife beating uncle, who learned it from his granddad who learned it after having his first wife lobotomized

@Irunnia_ @InternetH0F @Chisomnwagbaraa I figured out women dont even know what they want most of the time. Most of the time they give advice or when they tell what they want its almost adversarial to what will actually make a man attractive to them. They cant even articulate themselves most of the time. So inaccurate
