💟 This evening, Lagan Valley Island and Union Bridge is illuminated pink to mark the introduction of Dáithí’s Law. Named after Dáithí Mac Gabhann, who has been waiting for a heart transplant since 2018, the law means adults are considered potential organ donors unless they choose to opt out. Councillor Brian Higginson, Chair of Corporate Services said: “Dáithí’s Law represents hope, compassion and the power of community to drive meaningful change. This is a reminder of the lives already being transformed through organ donation and the importance of continuing to raise awareness.” Councillor Declan Lynch added: “Dáithí’s story has touched people far beyond his own community. Dáithí’s Law reminds us of the hope that organ donation brings, and we encourage everyone to take a moment to learn about the law and talk to their loved ones about their wishes.” For more information on organ donation please visit: organdonationni.info
