Can't resist re-posting this. As the saying goes, "If you know, you know!"

5/. Also, @Sam_Dumitriu promotes granny annexes in gardens & includes idyllic photo in article. They won’t solve the housing crises, in my part of country rarely look like that & often become beds in sheds at some point.

4/. @Sam_Dumitriu If you don’t like the idea of affordable housing, surely the logical solution is to cut out the middleman (developers), create a Gov owned national building co. & mass build council housing like they did in Dagenham?

3/. @Sam_Dumitriu criticises affordable housing. But how do you house people who cannot afford to buy? Without it you solve nothing & are just lining pockets of developers shareholders.

2/. Points I would take up with @Sam_Dumitriu A) He calls local planning committees ‘political’. They are voice of locals & taking that away is undemocratic. Who does the decision making go to? A: Whichever party is in Gov. Great for him if pro build but what if they aren’t?

1/. Interesting planning views from @Sam_Dumitriu & worth read even if, like me, you are a sceptic. I am naturally defensive of Green Belt development but would be more accepting if it solved anything - It won't unless our population stops expanding at unsustainable rate.

NEW: Labour just announced the biggest change in planning policy in 80 years. My breakdown of the key measures and whether they will succeed. samdumitriu.com/p/labour-are-f…

2/. Is it just me or are we getting nearer to 1970s Britain every day? Flying pickets anyone?

1/. I get a lot of unsolicited lobbying. One of regulars is group coordinating picketing at industrial disputes across country. Latest promotes a Megapicket in Brum in early 26. What took my eye was their offer to provide hotel accommodation on night before.
