I do not believe Bungie is in a position to make Destiny 3 given their dismal financial status within PlayStation.
I think Bungie is coming to an end if Marathon doesn't radically improve in the next year or two.
I do not think Destiny 3 will happen.

Wow I can’t believe this man. We could have been playing Destiny 3 right now but we got Marathon instead and The End of Destiny 2. I really hope this is because they will finally give us D3. This sucks man.

I will never understand this decision.. heartbreaking news, an amazing game with a dedicated community and no competition just going down the drain. It could of been so much more and so much bigger. I will definitely cherish my destiny moment and I am happy about it.

@PaulTassi Why are we acting like the franchise is dead? There clearly will be a D3. Games take time to make duh. People don’t act like Monster Hunter is dead when world was End of Service. When was the last Gears game? People weren’t acting like this then. Games end. Then they make a new 1
