@THESLVMPG0D @RangerMork Layoffs are coming because they aren’t working on anything rn sadly. Once a D3 gets greenlit, which based on all reactions I imagine it will be, hires will happen again

I do not believe Bungie is in a position to make Destiny 3 given their dismal financial status within PlayStation. I think Bungie is coming to an end if Marathon doesn't radically improve in the next year or two. I do not think Destiny 3 will happen.
Destiny 2@DestinyTheGame

Read the full blog at bung.ie/d2_may_21_2026 For almost twelve years, we have had the joy and honor to explore the Destiny universe with you all. Through all the ups and downs, surprises and triumphs, building Destiny alongside our players has been a monumental privilege. While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2. As our focus turns towards a new beginning for Bungie, we will begin work incubating our next games. To that end, on June 9, 2026, we will release the final live-service content update for Destiny 2 to begin that new journey as a studio. Though active development may be concluding, we will ensure that Destiny 2 remains playable, just as the original Destiny is today. Many changes in this final update will aim to ensure that Destiny 2 is a welcoming place for players to return to. We’re proud of Destiny 2, the places it took us, and the legacy it has created. Because of you all, our universe is vast, built on years of shared stories, adventures, and victories. From the Cosmodrome to the Pale Heart to the Lawless Frontier, we have forged life-long memories and friendships with you all. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who made that journey with us. From the deepest part of our hearts, thank you, and we'll see you in the stars.

Wow I can’t believe this man. We could have been playing Destiny 3 right now but we got Marathon instead and The End of Destiny 2. I really hope this is because they will finally give us D3. This sucks man.

This doesn't sound like Destiny 3 is coming at all... Might actually be the end of this franchise. Wild.

I will never understand this decision.. heartbreaking news, an amazing game with a dedicated community and no competition just going down the drain. It could of been so much more and so much bigger. I will definitely cherish my destiny moment and I am happy about it. RIP DESTINY

Marathon isn’t big enough or makes enough money to sustain Bungie. Sony already lost money on the purchase. The studio that created Halo is about to be shut down.

@PaulTassi Why are we acting like the franchise is dead? There clearly will be a D3. Games take time to make duh. People don’t act like Monster Hunter is dead when world was End of Service. When was the last Gears game? People weren’t acting like this then. Games end. Then they make a new 1
