My neighbors had a territory right outside my back fence, which is how I met them. One time I accidentally got a mouse that was too big for my snake so I left it outside for another critter, and Mr. Raven swooped down and grabbed it. That’s how I knew they had eyes on me!

I loved sitting outside on windy days because the ravens had a flock they’d get together with to play and do tricks. They keep to their territories in pairs otherwise, but windy days felt like a truce. One time I saw them playing with a pinecone in the air, like a group sport!

It’s International Crow and Raven Appreciation Day!! This is Mr. and Mrs. Raven! They were very good neighbors for close to 3 years, until I moved away. They’ll always have a special place in my heart. 🥰 I’d love to hear about other peoples’ corvid friends!!

@Hellraiser_9 They’re the coolest. I hope you’ll get to experience any kind of corvid, but there’s something special about ravens. They recognize me! They always kept a short, cautious distance of course, but they’d follow me on walks or come hang out while I was doing yardwork <3

I’m grateful i started getting curious about the natural world because i find *all* of these parks magical. the mojave ecosystem is endlessly fascinating, and even indiana dunes is a unique oasis. it’s childish to have an extractive/theme park view of public lands!

She’s still every bit as puppy as she’s always been, just slowing down a little. We go on daily walks to a beautiful, gently sloping trail with lots of stuff to sniff. I’m so grateful that this is how our sweet girl gets to spend her golden years.

im not 100% anti new fandom at all because alot of what is new is a larger POC presence & the youth have platforms— shit we all do.. I like how it is now because our primary issue used to be zoos & groomers. Now the worst case is an annoying influencer. I’ll take that.
