My addiction to college basketball was sprouted by this man, 40 plus years ago growing up in Beaumont. I grew up going to Lamar basketball games and watching the likes of Joe Dumars and Karl Malone, from a teenager’s standpoint, both looked larger than life, come to town and have their bus drivers warming up the bus with 10 minutes left in the game and zero chance with leaving Beaumont with a win. Lamar is a good school, alumni and Beaumonters are good people but haven’t got a clue on what it takes to build a successful sports program or athletic department. I was excited for my hometown school when they made the hire, but now back to disappointment, Lamar being Lamar. Now looking for the next school with some sense, scoop him up.
