CMV Conference

#CMV2022 has come to an end! Our Co-Chairs Mark Wills, John Sinclair and Mike Weekes have officially closed the conference. Thank you to everyone involved, you have all made this year a real success. We look forward to meeting in person in Columbus, 2024!

Our last live discussion of #CMV2022 was lead by Panel Chair- Prof Fausto Baldanti. Joining him for a animated exchange was Prof Dana Wolf, Prof Ravit Boger, Dr Sophie Alain, Prof Camille Kotton @KottonNelson and Dr Blair Strang @StrangVirusLab.

Our last oral presentation of #CMV2022 was by Prof Michael McVoy, ending with another great Q&A session! We would like to thank our session chairs Dr Sophie Alain & Prof Camille Kotton @KottonNelson for overseeing & managing the session so well.

Dr Megan Lloyd @DrMeegs1 and Dr Xuan Jiang answered some probing questions on their presentations. Fascinating talks pushing the areas of development in this field!

Next up was Aimee Sundberg & her talk on 'Assessment of discontinuations (DCs) and anti-cytomegalovirus (CMV) treatment (tx) switching in post-transplant refractory CMV infections with or without resistance (R/R): safety and sensitivity analyses from a Phase 3 randomized trial.'

Our first Antivirals Oral Presentation at #CMV2022 was by Clotilde Muller on 'First description of letermovir resistance mutation in UL51 gene from a HSCT-patient and study of its impact on the terminase complex structure.'

It's the last session of #CMV2022! We're happy to welcome our Antivirals Keynote speaker Prof Dana Wolf and her presentation on 'New approaches for prenatal treatment and prediction of congenital CMV-related fetal injury'.

Our Vaccines session saw 3 more presentations by Dr Lori Panther, Prof Mirko Trilling and Associate Professor Dr K. Yeon Choi. Thought provoking talks, A big thank you from #CMV2022.

Prof Karen Fowler @FowlerKarenb gave her presentation on 'Increased risk of congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) infection in adolescent pregnancies'. Thank you for a stimulating talk and Q&A session!

Merit Award Winner at #CMV2022 Dr Dawei Wang gave his presentation on 'Evaluating age-specific vaccination strategies for prevention of cytomegalovirus infection in the United States using agent-based simulation.'

The opening Vaccines Keynote speech on Day 5 #CMV2022 was given by Prof Sallie Permar @SalliePermar. Her experienced talk looked at 'Designing CMV vaccines in the post-mRNA vaccine era'. #stopcmv

#CMV2022 Day 4 finished with a Live Panel discussion! We welcome back Prof Ileana Cristea as Chair & special guest speakers Prof Noam Stern-Ginossar @SGinossarLab, Dr Andrew Yurochko, Prof Mike Weekes & Dr Elizabeth Fortunato. Thank you to everyone for your time & contribution.

Prof. Laura Hertel @LauraHertel8 and Ece Egilmezer gave their informative thoughtful presentations. We finished this oral section with #CMV2022 Merit Award Winner Hanqi Li @Lhq1998 and her talk 'Characterisation of the mechanism and function of DMXL1 degradation by HCMV.'

Asst. Prof Sean Lawler @SeanLawler20 gave his presentation on 'CMV-associated glioblastoma progression is independent of tumor genetics and age of infection, but requires viral replication'. Great things happening at #CMV2022!

Day 5 of #CMV2022 has begun!! We start the day with looking at Vaccines.

Enrico Caragliano @Caraglians commenced our Oral session on Virus Host Interactions with his presentation on 'Human cytomegalovirus forms phase-separated compartments at viral genomes to facilitate viral replication'. Smiles all round for another great Q&A!

Dr Michal Schwartz @SGinossarLab and her talk on 'The molecular principles governing HCMV infection outcome' got a thumbs up from our Chairs Prof Mike Weekes & Dr Elizabeth Fortunato! A great way to start our Virus Host Interactions session at #CMV2022 on Day 4.
