Coaching burnout doesn’t arrive with a bang. It drips in quietly. At first, it feels like fatigue. Then it feels like frustration. Eventually, it feels like nothing at all. That’s the final stage — not anger, not exhaustion, just numb. You stop celebrating the little things. You stop connecting. You stop noticing that you’ve stopped. If that’s where you are, step back. Not forever — just long enough to see the forest again. Take a few days. Sleep in. Go for a run with no watch. Remember what joy felt like before the clipboard. You can’t lead athletes out of their fatigue if you never leave your own. Rest isn’t weakness. It’s the reset that keeps you in the game.
