The ebb and flow of MT Tyeskie: a story of quiet beginnings, painful setbacks, and relentless comebacks. From speech therapy in 3rd grade to one final defense away from my doctorate… this journey has been anything but conventional. I grew up as the product of a single-parent household, the ultimate underdog. I didn’t have the “gift of gab.” Speaking up, expressing myself clearly, or commanding a room never came naturally. In third grade, I worked with a speech pathologist just to build the basic communication skills most kids took for granted. But God gave me one undeniable gift: I could play football. And I leaned all the way into that talent. Football became my vehicle, the way this quiet kid from a single-parent home could open doors, earn opportunities, and create a path I never would have found otherwise. That same path tested me like nothing else. I sustained three ACL injuries and 2 knee scopes during my football career. Five times my knee was torn apart, five times doctors told me the odds were stacked against me, and five times I had to decide whether to quit or keep fighting. The surgeries, the long months of rehab, the pain, and the doubt each tried to end the dream. But I refused to let those injuries define me. Instead, they became some of my greatest teachers in perseverance, resilience, and mental toughness. Along the way I also served as a hall monitor and a Teacher Assistant. Those early roles taught me discipline, service, and the quiet power of showing up and helping others succeed, even when I still felt like the kid who didn’t quite fit the mold. Today, after years of late nights, sacrifices, and unwavering belief, I’m standing at the finish line of a long academic road. One dissertation defense separates me from earning my doctorate. And in the middle of this season, I have the honor of serving as the Athletic Director of DeSoto ISD, one of the most prestigious and storied school districts in the state of Texas. The kid who once struggled to find his words now has a voice, a platform, and a responsibility to pour into the next generation of student athletes. To every underdog reading this: your starting point doesn’t determine your ending. Find the gift you’ve been given, work it with everything you have, stay faithful through the setbacks, and keep grinding. The path may not be loud or flashy, but it can still lead you exactly where you’re meant to go. To be a great assistant coach you have to be selfless its to many people wanting more Shine then the Head Coaches and that where you go wrong … It’s like a Rock Band the crowd comes for the lead singer but only the real musicians know that them Drums is carrying the song !

Our end of the season Track & Field party was a success!

Real spill…One of our best jobs was getting a 2-8 team ready to fight every week. Didn’t matter the opponent those kids showed and you had to play no matter our record.

Our 8th grade boys shattered their own 4x400m relay record, and leave Jobe track and field with a #3 national time!

Jordan Jones broke our high jump record, leaping to 6’2”! He also placed 3rd in the long jump, triple jump, and 2nd in the 110 hurdles!

New School Record! William Rojas runs a 2:05.57 to become the 800m District Champion!
