@scottguzman The purpose of the playoff was to have the 12 best teams in. Most years there’s a G5 school close. This was not one of those years and there shouldn’t be an automatic bid, let alone 2. Having the 3/4th best odds to win it and not getting in at all is criminal.

@scottguzman Agree 100% with you there. I’m not mad about Miami one bit. I think the committee screwed themselves the past few weeks there. But Bama losing to Florida State and getting embarrassed by Georgia last night should have implications.

Notre Dame played 6 ACC games. Went 5-1. Join that bum conference so they can play 5-loss Duke in a conference championship game and lose their historic games against USC and Stanford? No thanks. Fix the system.

@scottguzman I understand they theoretically can still schedule USC. But I think a lot of teams are going to stop scheduling tough non-conference games if they’re going to be punished (i.e. Sarkisians remarks)

@scottguzman You’re right, forgot about that. However, I still don’t like the argument. Forcing Notre Dame to prioritize playing an expanded ACC over maintaining their historic, century-old rivalries with teams like USC for a chance at an ACC Championship game is exactly why it’s broken.

Notre Dame just got punished for a three-point road loss to No. 10 Miami on August 31, while Alabama lost by 14 to a 5–7 Florida State team at the same time. SEC/Bama bias in a nutshell.
