Five Killeen ISD student-athletes over the weekend at the Class 6A/5A Division I Region II competition in Del Valle hoisted some heavy weight and qualified for the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association state tournament. All five secured their state spots in the unequipped field by finishing first or second in their weight class after completing lifts in three disciplines –– bench press, squat and deadlift. Killeen High’s Meleana Price was the 6A Region II 242-pound champion, while Precious Tauiliili (second, 220) and Aaliyah Abddeen (242+) also qualified for the Lady Roos who were regional runners-up as a team –– which also includeded Marianita Sanchez, Alicia Gomez and K’liyah Tripplett Shoemaker’s Alyssa Dell (second, 114) also is state bound in 6A.
