Ben McCollum on how he thinks prospective high school and portal players will perceive Iowa, considering what the program is accomplishing this season: “If you’re a tough dude, this is a good spot for you. If you’re soft and you like yourself way too much, this is probably not the spot for you. We just try to recruit tough dudes that want to be part of something bigger than themselves, and hopefully people see that.”

And they say we don’t need a shot clock. Every single game would be better if we had a shot clock. It’s the state championship and we got teams taking the air out of the ball. Is this really what people want to see??!

@dan_sostek Ok? 6a has the smallest number of privates though. And the sheer massive size of the 6A schools allow them to actually have a chance against these tiny charter schools like Imhotep. Ya realize that this wasn’t a 6a private vs. a 6A public? They’re like a 3a school. Maybe.

Interestingly, since PIAA moved to 6 classes in 2017:
-District 3 is 5-0 in 6A boys hoops title games. Most 6A titles of any District (D3 5, D12, 3, D10 1)
-All 5 were public schools—only public schools to win the 6A title
-District 3 is 3-0 against District 12 in 6A finals

Just sayin’. In the past two years, 11 of the 12 boys basketball state champs have been either Catholic, private or charter schools. Only exception Central Dauphin. And it’s 16 of 18 in three years.

@ETNreisenweber Football already has an alternative to Piaa playoffs. Get public schools to opt into that instead. Just run your own. Why wait for legislature.

Who else is tired of Conference Champions playing in the play-in games for the NCAA Tournament? They should automatically be in the round of 64.
The at-large bids should have to do the play-in games. I don't care what the seeds are.

@skmartists Right. Off by 1. So 13/16 in one thru 4a. Adding in 5&6a you’re still at 16/24. May not seem that bad, but only 24% of all schools are non boundary. How do you go from 24% to 67%. Every single year basically? That’s a huge anomaly.

@CoachCG6 Old Forge, United, Lewisburg are boundary. Go up to 5a and 6a upper Moreland, west york, chartiers valley, central dauphin, upper st Clair are boundary.
