Bailey Maupin’s collegiate career has come to a close. In an era defined by movement, she chose something different. Over the past six years, she became just the second player to spend all four seasons at Texas Tech—and the only one from her three-player recruiting class to see it through. Across those four years, she shared the floor with 31 different teammates. The Gruver native had every reason to leave. The numbers, the résumé, the opportunity—it was all there. And during those three difficult Big 12 seasons, when losses continued to pile up, many would have understood if she did. But she stayed. And in the end, that decision meant something. Maupin led the team in scoring this season at (15.2) points per game, guiding Texas Tech to its first 25-win season in 22 years, its first AP Top 25 ranking in 14 years, and its first winning conference record and NCAA Tournament appearance in 13 years. She didn’t just stay. She helped bring the program back. Her name now sits fourth on Texas Tech’s all-time scoring list, alongside names like Sheryl Swoopes, Plenette Pierson, and Jia Perkins. And that’s how she’ll be remembered—not just for what she accomplished, but for choosing to stay and seeing it through. 🪄
