🚨 STOP CHOOSING SCHOOLS LIKE YOU’RE PICKING A TV SHOW 🚨
If the main reason a program is on your list is because you see them on TV…
Pause.
Exposure does NOT equal fit.
And here’s the truth no one talks about:
The “highlight reel school” looks different for everyone.
For some, it’s the Power 4 program on national TV.
For others, it’s the mid-major that wins 40 games a year.
For someone else, it’s the D2 powerhouse.
Or the D3 that dominates its conference.
Or the NAIA program that develops overlooked athletes.
Every level has its own spotlight.
But a spotlight doesn’t guarantee it’s YOUR place.
Ask yourself:
Can you name:
• Their head coach?
• What conference they compete in?
• Where they finished last season?
• Their style of play?
• What makes their culture unique?
• How you realistically fit into their roster?
If not…
It’s not a real target.
It’s just a logo you recognize.
TV time doesn’t mean:
❌ You’ll develop
❌ You’ll play
❌ You’ll be valued
❌ You’ll thrive
The right fit looks like:
✔ A coach who believes in your skill set
✔ A system that matches how you play
✔ Honest conversations about roster needs
✔ An academic path you’re excited about
✔ A place that pushes you AND supports you
Big logos fade fast if you’re not on the field.
Bright lights don’t feel so bright from the bench.
Build your list on knowledge.
On research.
On real conversations.
On honest self-evaluation.
Not hype.
Not hashtags.
Not who gets broadcasted the most.
Your decision is bigger than a broadcast schedule.
Find the place that fits YOU — not just the one that trends the most.
You know it’s January when your nightmares about season have returned.
Last night our bus driver drove us 2 hours in the wrong direction before I realized. I woke up in a panic.
Now I’m feverishly quadroople checking our schedule. 😂 Here’s to the 2026 season!
