@MikeACurtis2 Hard to be real positive when you shipped their teammate to a conference rival to try to help your little buddy Rob Pelinka have a better chance of making the finals. No matter what else we want to talk about, players know.

@CoachDasch @xanbarksdale Because you have to immediately challenge, you probably can’t have a scenario where the catcher throws down and challenges, which means if you are stealing a base and a challenge occurs, they were conceding the base anyways, so you could probably just take it again.

Interesting ABS situation here. 3-2, runner goes, ball 4 is called and he pulls up into 2B. Catcher challenges… and now you start to wonder what would happen if it’s overturned. Are the announcers right, would this become a double play? Or would the umpires send the runner back to first since the original call influenced the play?

@CoachDasch @xanbarksdale Simple solution long term and thank goodness we had this situation come up before it was meaningful. You clarify in the rule book that outs/bases on the base path will stand when possible so that teams tell there base runners to finish hard even on ball 4 incase its over turned

@CoachDasch @Dkn71500 @xanbarksdale Correct. The play is allowed to finish before the batter/catcher challenge the pitch. The outcome of that challenge wouldn’t affect the stolen base.

Sorry I wasn’t clear on what I meant. I was thinking late in the game, but earlier in the count. Successful stolen base negated by an ABS challenge, runner goes back. Just thought it would be an interesting way to exploit the system if that was the standard practice of enforcement.

@CoachDasch @xanbarksdale I mean the only way to negate the stolen base is if a call is overturned to a ball in which case the runner gets to 2nd anyways. Can’t think of any way it could be abused

@CoachDasch @xanbarksdale It wouldn’t be a successful stolen base. Once ball 4 is called, the runner is awarded 2nd base and free to advance. If the call is overturned, the runner goes back to 1st. Pretty simple

On Thursday, Iowa fans will hear Kevin Harlan on Thursday's game between the Hawkeyes and Cornhuskers. Before his decades of success on a national stage, Harlan was just a high schooler in Wisconsin. That's where he caught up with TV9 sports director emeritus John Campbell.

In honor of the United States Semiquincentennial (the fancy term for America’s 250th birthday), this is your periodic reminder that the only copy of the Declaration of Independence located west of the Mississippi is, somewhat bizarrely, tucked out of the way on the 7th floor of the downtown Dallas Main Public Library. For Texans it is easier to get to than the National Archives in DC, free to view, and as an added bonus there’s a copy of “the most important book in the English language”, Shakespeare’s First Folio (one of, appropriately enough, only 250 to survive), located in the adjacent viewing room.

@NickCaminoWKYC Sign me up for more of this. Salary caps are to the benefit of the ownership, masked as a competitive balance mechanism. Unfortunately, they don’t come with franchise management skills.
