By doing this coaches can recruit less sporadically, kids aren’t playing 100 games a summer, and lower tier teams aren’t paying thousands of dollars to go get beat up on by elite teams. It encourages development and upward movement for orgs. And little league is prioritized.

Travel ball should only be a 3 Tier system that starts at 7th Grade. Elite Major Minor. Teams have to register under a certain tier. If you dominate one level you move up. Have a state tournament for each tier, then a regional, tournament, and finish with a “World Series” .

If you top out at 85mph, run a 7.1 sixty, or can’t hit homers in BP…. You are extremely unqualified to be attending a P4 showcase camp. Might as well light a couple hundreds on fire for fun. Be mature and invest in your development.

I'm glad Jordan Walker said this. Growing up, I can't tell you how many times I heard: "Baseball is boring." "Go play football." I was even called an "Oreo" because I chose baseball. There was definitely pressure to play the sports everyone else was playing. Baseball changed my life! That's why seeing players like Jordan Walker embrace being role models matters. The more kids who see someone who looks like them thriving in baseball, the more they'll realize it's a path that's open to them too. I hope more kids feel free to choose the game they love...not just the one everyone expects them to play.

If a program's pitching staff sits 88 to 94 and your son throws 79 as a rising senior, that program is not on his list. I know that is not what anyone wants from me, but I have watched families spend two years and five figures courting schools that would never call while the schools that wanted him badly went ignored. I worked with a D1 player and a D3 player this morning. On paper... They looked almost identical. 6'4 200 pounds... Both had elite bat speed. Both had power. Both were physically gifted. But there was one difference. Every time the D3 player mishit a ball... He complained. He got frustrated. He pouted. Then he'd struggle for the next 3 or 4 swings. Pop-up. Ground ball. Weak contact. The D1 player? He'd mishit one. Make an adjustment ...And move on. No emotion. No drama. Just the next pitch. It reminded me of something I learned playing professional baseball... Sometimes the biggest difference between two players isn't their talent. It's the conversation they're having with themselves in their head after they fail. Your bat speed matters. Your swing matters. But the operating system between your ears matters just as much. The best hitters I've been around don't waste energy explaining why they failed. Everybody tries to fix their direction by training and feeling their bat path. Makes sense. The barrel and hands the part you can feel the most. But your path is mostly just following where your body already sent the energy. Posture leaks a little, the energy comes away from the ball, and the barrel goes right along with it. So when you’re pulling off, it usually started before your swing even starts. It started with your posture and where your body was working. Hands, path, posture, energy. They all work together. Clean up the stride, body energy and posture and the barrel falls in line on its own. Typically. The drill in the video is how you train that. Volume up so you catch the cue.

Travel bal has killed youth sports. Travel ball used to be reserved for elite talents but now due to parents travel ball has damn near killed community park ball in every sport. Travel football is now a thing with national rankings and folks paying thousands a year.
