As an AD, I remind our athletes: no one cares how fast you are if you’re running the wrong way. No one cares about your velo if you can’t throw strikes. No one cares if you can draw a foul if you can’t make free throws. If you can’t do the basics, you won’t be effective.

An athlete takes a huge step forward when a coach doesn't have to ask them to work hard, extra, or correctly. It's called taking ownership.

If coaches want to limit kids from transferring they’ll have to form real, caring relationships with players while also helping them develop on & off the floor individually. When kids feel like they don’t matter, that’s when they leave. Develop all your kids; don’t diminish them!
