@EFFINaC0TT0N @CoachJonBeck @DrNiravPandya 12% play lacrosse at some level, it isn’t that 12% get a scholarship. There are less than 80 D1 teams amd prior to this year they were capped at 12.6 scholarships

Less than 2% of high school athletes will get a college scholarship (and even less will go pro) but the entire youth sports complex is designed around spending money and breaking down physically to achieve a goal that 98% of athletes won’t achieve. Keep sports competitive & fun.

Trainers & Coaches: Drop the ego & stop taking credit for an athletes success. That’s what amateurs do. Pros give credit to the athlete who puts in the work & the people who raise them. We do it for them, not credit. We’re like a GPS. We show them the way, but they have to drive!

Players: If your coach doesn’t have an Ind. meeting with you at the end of the season, take the initiative & request one to: Reflect & evaluate past season Discuss thoughts/concerns/expectations Understand role Choose 2-3 things to improve Make detailed plan to attack off-season

Can someone explain why some 10 year old needs to travel hundreds of miles for competition that they almost certainly could have found locally? Travel leagues for youth sports should be banned.

If coaches want to limit kids from transferring they’ll have to form real, caring relationships with players while also helping them develop on & off the floor individually. When kids feel like they don’t matter, that’s when they leave. Develop all your kids; don’t diminish them!

Transfer or not, you will still have to: Get through adversity/injury Be coachable Take/listen to criticism Eat right/get enough sleep Effectively manage your time Set & manage priorities Be disciplined Practice early/late Be a great teammate Sacrifice Balance academics & sports

Life, like sports, is a test of endurance. Sometimes it's brutal & you have to figure things out in the moment. Sports will teach you life lessons: strength, focus, reflection, growth, grit, mindset. Use those to make your own way & to develop as a person as well as an athlete!

Who is St. Patrick and why are we celebrating him? Well, he founded 300 churches & baptized roughly 120,000 people. He "found Ireland ALL HEATHEN and left it ALL CHRISTIAN." That's a need for celebration in my book! Happy St. Pats day! ☘️

Work ethic doesn’t reflect motivation or inspiration as much as it reflects discipline. High integrity people work hard because it’s who they are. They don’t need coddling or a cheering section. Their motivation comes from within. And really, that’s the only place that matters!

Long after the wins & losses, you'll remember your teammates & coaches; the bus rides & locker room talks. You'll remember how you had each other's backs. You'll remember the relationships & how you leaned on each other. And especially how fortunate you were to be part of a TEAM!

Whether your team went to state or fell short, won it all or got 2nd, there is no finish line. Sports teach you that about life. It’s never the end. It’s just time for a new beginning, the next chapter. Reassess where you are now versus where you need to be & keep moving forward!

I think @TweetsbyCoachP was just talking about this a few days ago. I also had a parent tell me they spent $10,000 on travel ball last off season. 😳

Great practices aren’t about having a clean, perfect practice plan that’s executed down to the minute. It’s about creating chaotic, unpredictable problems for your players to sovle, embracing messiness & adjusting when the players’ abilty to problem solve is too easy or too hard.

We spend a lot of time talking about coaching, training & talent. But the most important factor in a young person’s development is still parenting In sports In school In life Parents set the habits, standards & mindset that everything else builds on Long before a coach arrives

Kids don’t care where you coached, who you coached or how many degrees you have. They just want a coach who truly cares about them & knows how to make learning the game a lot of fun! They absorb more & it’s so much more meaningful when they’re enjoying it than when they aren’t!
