In the data-driven baseball world, the mindless Twitter chatter around swing mechanics is getting increasingly lame (if possible). Data >> Talk. Just draw a chart with data that shows that in-game results (Y) are a function of some factor (X). Here's an example:

Jack Werkowitch (‘25 MO) working into the mid 80’s w/ the fastball. Attacking hitters in the zone & producing weak ground balls. Good frame @ 6’3 that will fill out & continue adding velo. #WWBA @PGMidwestBB #Lindenwood commit

The MLB DRAFT begins July 14th, here are some important things to know💡 The MLB Draft went from 40 rounds to 20 rounds in 2021. Eliminating roughly 600 players per year from being drafted by MLB clubs. MLB also canceled 40 MiLB clubs, eliminating roughly 1000 MiLB roster spots that are not coming back. The good news. MLB also partnered with 4 of the best independent professional leagues, making them “Professional MLB Partner Leagues” The Atlantic League, Frontier League, American Association and Pioneer League respectively. MLB clubs are now utilizing these four leagues, now more than ever, to make player signing decisions, test new rules and monitor players data analytics. Independent professional baseball is more important now, more than any other time in history, for players pursuing playing for an MLB organization. Independent professional baseball is much more competitive and impactful players careers than most people understand. I am offering this information to provide a larger perspective of the landscape. Best of luck to all💯

Cancelling this poll because everyone knows the answer. 14 African-American kids played in the CWS this year. 5 pitchers. Out of 300 players, 120 pitchers. That's astoundingly bad for college baseball. If everyone knows how extreme the problem is, why is it getting worse not better?

Last night of @NCAAD1 baseball tonight! 288 players made it to Omaha for the final 8. How many African-American players were on the rosters? Note -- If this was basketball/football the number would be like 140+.

Despite all the talk from @ABCA1945, @NCAABaseball and @MLB, the cold reality is that a black starting pitching in non-SWAC D1 baseball is RARER than a black hockey player in the NHL. Facts. But hey, let's pretend that everything is OK. It is not intentional right?

@RealMattyBo ALL that matters is getting better, player development. Year after year. Early commits gone. It’s a great new world if your job is to make players better. Don’t feel sorry for the people who built their business around the old business model. Darwin at work.

High school kids are traveling every summer for exposure but colleges are showing up less and less. Where are they? Summer collegiate leagues. Scouting guys in the portal. The entire high school “exposure” model is out-dated and broken. Yet business continues on as usual as if high school summer baseball is the ultimate exposure model. The entire process for how a high school player moves into college baseball and has a chance to compete at various levels is not the same. Yet people are still going through the motions of yesteryear and will be tomorrows portal guys. If only there was a way 🤔

And people complain about the high cost of youth baseball. #1 biggest investment over past decade has been in carpet at $1-2 million/field; resulting in higher costs across the board. Plastic is a big reason baseball is becoming a rich kid sport.

Why? It’s because decision makers choose to sacrifice the quality of the game and to spend taxpayer/donor dollars to reduce work on their part. It’s not their money but they get all the benefit (reduced work).

Watching summer college baseball. Game is on artificial turf which has made it a joke - big hop groundballs are singles and prevent double plays, outfielders are afraid to attack the ball, and one ball hopped over LF for bases loaded triple. Why have we done this to baseball?

The rationale used to be rain resilience, But with new soil science on infields that is no longer true. No one plays in lightening anyway.

Over weekend saw 5 pitchers at 3 different locations slip and fall on plastic mounds. People with turf deny this happens—it happens all the time. Add to this all the slipping around by infielders and baserunners. Plastic impacts 5-10 plays per game. Why do we let this happen?
