From an outsider's perspective, I find this puzzling. England do produce a lot of these players, and FA have clearly placed emphasis on that, they just weren't picked. Tuchel wanted to play a more transitional, physically dominant game, and his squad selections reflected it.

@PPetrov_FR I don’t have an issue with Tuchel’s ideas and approach. He picked players specifically for transition speed. He didn’t pick players to dominate the ball. Abandoning that approach (players and coach) was the key failing and it made defeat inevitable.

@henrywinter It’s an equal share of responsibility between players and coach. But Tuchel’s pride (and fear) won’t allow him to take his share of responsibility aside from a few platitudes. The stakes were high and so accepting his part is too difficult for him.

@PaulSpacey 😂 I think my comment speaks for itself I would leave alone in the NFL narrative. In my opinion, there’s about five positions that could play football. Six of the positions cannot. I would leave the NFL narrative alone.

@Coach_Temisan For me it's the football. How I see the game within moments. Pep control. Klopp attack and press. Bielsa my wholestic theory. others don’t provide that for my football emotions.

In 15 years of coaching, I have never heard coaches say they want to be McClaren, Southgate or Howe. It's always Guardiola, Mourinho, Klopp, Bielsa and now Arteta. Why?

Working with a very talented U11 player in China on his aerial control reinforced something important: Isolation work still matters. To suggest there’s no decision-making in this type of practice is wide of the mark. Reading the flight of the ball. Adjusting body shape. Timing the contact. Deciding how to receive… And then how to release! Decisions! Experience Coaches understand that players you have a better relationship with the ball can execute high-level decisions in the game.

Recently heard an argument that there really isn’t five top European leagues anymore, there is the Premier League and then a few super clubs scattered through the rest of Europe. Viewing figures and money (not the only metrics, but interesting ones) certainly bear this out.

@_ToddBeane Love that. I would say at this iteration of possession/ positional exercise. The evolution is now how do we take the opening exercise and progress it to a goal scoring moment with specific direction. Similar to how coaches have now progressed Rondo’s.

@CoachGalvan78 Play an 11v11 match every training session all session for realism. Or maybe there are missed opportunitis and injury risks for doing so. Love going to goal and we do it every session. Every session with clarity on how we get there. 🕺🏻 #TOVO
