@CoachBoundsWIU @CoachJCaraway Wallys popcorn is gonna throw it to game 7 vs buc-ee’s, it’s just that good and Buc-ees has gotten complacent. Wallys is young and hungry. But Casey’s is its own breed, there’s no gift shop, it’s the every down back of regional gas station chains, haymakers eat your heart out.

There have been a lot of questions on 5-for-5. Here’s my best rundown. Case 1: If you exhausted your eligibility this past school year, you’re done. No extra time. This is where the lawsuits will happen. Case 2: If you still have eligibility going into this school year, you get to choose the old model or the new 5-for-5, whichever benefits you. Two examples ⬇️ - “Player A” graduated in 2023, never redshirted, and has played 3 years. Instead of 2026 being his final and 4th year of competition, he could opt into the new model. That would give him two more years to play his five. - “Player B” graduated in 2024, redshirted his first year and medical redshirted in 2025. He would want to use the old model, so he would have four years left to compete. Case 3: Freshmen in 2026 get to pick the model they want. I assume most will pick 5-for-5 to get the most playing time. Case 4: Class of 2027 and beyond are using the new model.

2027 Recruits: pay attention to the NCAA Recruiting Calendar. D1 FBS schools go “Dead” on June 22nd through all July. No on-campus visits. No OV’s. Most FBS staffs will try to fill their 2027 class by the end of the week. If you don’t visit before Monday, you won’t be able to visit until the season starts. D1 FCS schools are “Quiet” through July. Full-go with campus visits and recruiting operations. Spots at all D1 institutions are filling up fast. My advice? Don’t pass on guaranteed money waiting for the lottery to hit.

High school specialists - @WIUFootball has a Specs Camp next Thursday, June 18th. I’m running it. I’ve offered high school specs the past two years at this camp. One of them is currently on our roster. Can’t say you’re slept on if you don’t show up. #WhosNECKSt leatherneckfootballcamps.com

Western Illinois University holds the distinction of being the only non-military institution to officially have its nickname derived from a branch of the military service.  The school began use of the Marine Corps’ official nickname, “The Fighting Leathernecks,” in 1927.
