@deseretCactus Times seemed more straightforward then. Probably because people were more straightforward. Not always. We did have Ted Bundy.

@Rog973521 @RykerJackson97 This was hung in the hallways of meetinghouses when I was a little kid. We've always had artwork about the crucifixion.

@Rog973521 @RykerJackson97 This is one of many statues on the temple grounds. We never considered the cross to not be a part of our worship. Historically we've emphasized the life snd resurrection of the Savior, as well as the infinite nature of His atonement, which included His sufferings in Gethsemane.

@RykerJackson97 Of course. Which makes Christians wonder why the SLC Temple (under four or five years of renovation) suddenly emphasizes Jesus carrying his Cross. I drive by this Temple every Sunday (glad to see the scaffolding finally come down). Why a statue now?

@edlars53 @P52765Peter @Mormonger Joseph Smith never called them abominations, just the same as John never said "I am alpha and omega, the beginning and the end." He wrote what he heard. And what am I twisting and denying?

@Mormonger And I’m being 100% serious. He was raised a member. But from what I gather, his family maybe wasn’t really active. But he 100% has ties to the church

@edlars53 @P52765Peter @Mormonger We don't have our own domain, we live in the presence of the Father, and praise and serve and worship Him eternally. Our "domain" is being co-heirs with Christ, if we suffer with Him. Our "kingdom" is merely the kingdom of Heaven, where God is Lord of lords and King of kings.

@edlars53 @P52765Peter @Mormonger They are united in purpose, but they are all divine, which is why those three are God. We just don't believe they are the exact same being. The Father is not the Son. But they do make for one God. We tend to shy away from the word, but we follow a "social trinity" model.

@CoachK_8 @P52765Peter @Mormonger You are being dishonest sir. You reject everything important in the Trinity. You deceive intentionally. LDS theology teaches that they are three distinct divine personages who are united in purpose but not in essence.

@edlars53 @P52765Peter @Mormonger We don't believe there are 3 Gods either. Only one God. And you could be honest, and actually quote me correctly. I never said humans have the potential to become god. But we call it gods, though you call it theosis. We just use the term Jesus and Paul used.

@edlars53 @P52765Peter @Mormonger Nobody can become God. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are God regardless of time forwards or backwards. Us humans, on the other hand, have the potential to become gods (little g) who worship and serve God the Father. What that looks like in practice you call theosis.

@CoachK_8 @edlars53 @Mormonger 2 respectful disagreements: 1. What you presented is not the entire doctrine of Christianity. It is central and essential, but not the entirety. 2. Jesus did not become "as man," He became a man--fully human, fully divine. This is a central tenet of the Incarnation.

@edlars53 @Mormonger @P52765Peter The entire doctrine of Christianity is that God became as man, and lived, and died for us si that we may become one with God and share in His glory. That's our understanding and belief as well, though you might disagree with the wording, and how we believe Jesus to be God.

@Mormonger @P52765Peter Mormonism is polytheistic, teaching that God the Father was once a man who became exalted to godhood and that humans can also become gods

@DissentOrDie1 @iamnyct0n01r Yes, accounts recorded where? In what book? And the growth of the church and the apostles are part of tradition. If you want to argue like an atheist, you must realize that it is a sword that cuts your own flesh. I fully believe in the risen Lord, Jesus Christ.

@DissentOrDie1 @iamnyct0n01r Now let's compare that to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, since you want to argue like an atheist. What "evidence" do we have? The Bible, and tradition. "But that tradition has been upheld for thousands of years." Yes, same as the "native myths."

@GuyInco15542744 @OchoZaco And when we say "know it's true," it's basically the kind of thing where you have seen the light of the sum, and declare that it doesn't exist/isn't shining. I don't know if many members of the church, even lifelong members, qualify.

@DissentOrDie1 @iamnyct0n01r There is evidence, it's called The Book of Mormon, and the countless accounts of a god appearing from heaven, blessing people, and saying he would return again found in native traditions. There is a "historical Jesus," too, but our "evidence" of our Lord is the Bible.
