Nobody does it better than Montreal. What a classy homage to Fleury and great work by the linesmen to let that moment breathe by not dropping the puck

John 20:24 When Jesus appeared to the disciples for the first time one of them, Thomas, wasn’t there. When they are able to give Thomas the news, he doesn’t believe them. “Unless I see it for myself, I won’t believe it. I’m going to have to put my fingers in those nail wounds to believe.” The disciples shouldn’t be surprised. They were the same way. They didn’t believe Peter & John when they came back from the tomb saying Jesus was alive. They didn’t believe Mary Magdalene when she said she SAW Jesus and He was alive. So the following Sunday Jesus gives an encore. The disciples are all together once again, with the doors locked the same way as before. Jesus miraculously appears again and He searches out Thomas specifically. “Thomas let me show you these wounds. Go ahead, put your fingers in the holes.” Jesus could have been upset with Thomas for his unbelieving attitude. But He tells him, “Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!” He’s going to give Thomas the evidence he needs to believe in Him. True to his word, when Thomas puts his hands on Jesus he does believe. Jesus tells him he is fortunate that he did get a chance to examine the physical evidence. He did get to see it with his own eyes. But then Jesus says: “Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.” John 20:29 Why did Jesus give Thomas that chance to see it with his own eyes? And why doesn’t God do that for every one of us? Later on Jesus is going to knock Paul off a horse and appear to him personally. Why won’t He do that for all of us? We don’t know the answer to those questions. We just know that Jesus says most of us are not going to see Him physically. He says we are going to have to have FAITH. We’re going to have to believe without seeing. But I do think that God knows our hearts and if we are truly seeking Jesus, God will give us the evidence we need to believe—just like He did with Thomas.
