Know the situation. Practice the situations with your team. Here is the list of situations I used to make practice plans over the course of the year.

#Transformational coaching moment yesterday at our first summer practice: A new sophomore, who had never played #football before and was new to the school, stepped onto the field without knowing a single person. The fear and anxiety in his eyes were palpable. I met him at midfield, put my hand on his shoulder, looked him in the eyes, and said, “You look a little anxious. Don’t worry, everything’s going to be fine. You might not know anyone, but now you know me. You might not know what to do, but I will show you. You’re going to make mistakes, and that’s OK. Just give me your best effort and attitude, and the rest will fall into place.” His demeanor changed completely. By the end of practice, with the support of a few other guys in his class, he was running around, learning, and having fun. Coaches, remember that many of our players come to practice with heavy hearts. It’s our job to lift and build them up.

Words can't express how excited I am for this opportunity as the Head Wrestling Coach at Madill. Being able to follow in my Dad's footsteps not only as a coach, but as a Head Wrestling Coach is something I have dreamed about for a long time. There are many people I would like to thank but my Friend and Mentor Jim Love is the person I would like to thank the most because without him I wouldn't be the coach I am today or have this opportunity that has been presented to me as well. The lessons he has taught and the time he has prepared me for this I will always remember. Along with that as well I would like to thank my other mentor Johnny Gallagher who truly first taught me on how to be a great coach and everything that it takes to be successful not only as a coach, but as a person. The future is extremely bright at Madill for the wrestling program and now is the time to capitalize and succeed into the next chapter. #VIVA
