Early Thursday morning, the FDNY responded to a fire at 505 East 184 Street in The Bronx, bringing over 280 firefighters and EMS personnel to the scene. “Upon arrival, units encountered heavy fire on the top floor extending into the cockloft and through the roof,” said Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods. “Members stretched multiple handlines to the top floor and into the cockloft space, opening up to reach fire in an area that is inherently difficult to access.” One person was found dead in the original fire apartment. During operations, four firefighters sustained minor injuries. FDNY Fire Marshals are working to determine the cause of the fire.

Former CHL and USports player Jacob Winterton has passed away at the age of 25 after a battle with cancer, the OHL announces. Winterton played for both the Flint Firebirds and Oshawa Generals before joining the University of Guelph Gryphons. He is the brother of Seattle Kraken forward Ryan Winterton.
