@susierstevens Backwards planning means that assessment heavily informs curriculum. What you assess (using NCEA in NZ) informs the ‘stuff that you teach’. If you aren’t teaching the curriculum which is being assessed, you probably aren’t doing your job. NCEA and curriculum are closely linked.

Hot tip. In Education we have Curriculum. That is the stuff we teach. We also have Assessment (NCEA is an example). Teachers use Assessment to evaluate implementation of Curriculum.
NCEA is not Curriculum. Anything in place of NCEA, is still not Curriculum, it’s Assessment.
